Carlos A. Morán
Carlos Morán is a Mexican lawyer specializing in energy, infrastructure and natural resources. Throughout his career Carlos has been actively involved in the representation of multinational companies conducting business in Mexico, specifically with State-owned companies Pemex and CFE. Carlos has participated extensively in major transactions involving mergers and acquisitions; offshore energy projects; government procurement procedures for the construction of port, airport, security and oil and gas infrastructure; commodities trade finance; mining projects; as well as, advising on regulatory and foreign investment issues related to the oil and gas, coastal trade and trucking sectors.
Prior to joining Cogan & Partners Carlos practiced in Mexico City as a partner in the corporate and energy departments of the full service firm Goodrich Riquelme. He also worked on secondment for the marine, trade and energy group of Hill Dickinson in London.
Carlos Morán has been ranked as an 'Up and Coming' lawyer in Chambers & Partners' 2014 Latin America Energy & Natural Resources listing. He currently serves as the Vice-Chair of the Energy Law Committee of the Asociación Nacional de Abogados de Empresa (ANADE-National Association of Business Lawyers) and is a former National Representative of the International Association of Lawyers (AIJA) in Mexico. He is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Institute for Energy Law and of several national and international associations, such as International Bar Association (IBA), the Association of the International Petroleum Negotiators (AIPN) and the US-Mexico Bar Association (USMBA).
